GWO First Aid Course in Calgary

Our GWO First Aid training in Calgary is a core module of the GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) program. This GWO first aid course equips wind technicians to assess casualties, provide immediate care, and manage medical emergencies on offshore and onshore sites. Participants practice CPR/AED use, bleeding control, injury assessment, and safe casualty handling in line with GWO first aid standards. Completing this GWO first aid training helps you stay compliant and site-ready.

  • Principles of GWO first aid and emergency response for the wind industry

  • Casualty assessment, primary/secondary surveys, and decision-making

  • CPR for adults and safe use of AEDs (as required by GWO first aid training)

  • Bleeding control, shock management, and treatment of burns, fractures, and sprains

  • Safe casualty handling, recovery positions, and evacuation coordination

  • Documentation and reporting to meet GWO first aid requirements

  • Wind turbine technicians and maintenance teams completing GWO first aid training

  • Offshore and onshore wind farm workers who need GWO first aid certification

  • Contractors/subcontractors working on turbines and related facilities

  • HSE officers and supervisors responsible for emergency preparedness

  • Anyone renewing BST who must pass the GWO first aid course in Calgary

Upon successful completion, your certificate will be available on WINDA for download

Included in Course

All training equipment is provided and included in the course fee. Successful candidates will be issued with a GWO WINDA Certificate at no additional cost upon completion of the assessment

Requirements

Participants must be at least 18 years of age and in good physical health.

All candidates are required to be free from any medical conditions or disabilities that could interfere with safe participation in training.

A self-declared statement of fitness must be completed prior to the course.

A working knowledge of English is essential. Participants must be able to understand, speak, read, and write in English to follow course materials and instructions safely and effectively.

All new participants must register on the GWO WINDA system prior to the course to obtain a valid WINDA ID. This ID is required to record your certification.

Participants must wear steel-toed safety boots to the training.
