MCL Height Safety is fully accredited and designed to meet the highest North American standards for rope access professionals. Whether you are beginning your career with Level 1, advancing your expertise with Level 2, moving into a supervisory role with Level 3, or renewing your qualifications with a Refresher course, our programs provide the skills and certification required to work safely in challenging environments.
Delivered by certified instructors at our state-of-the-art training facility, these courses combine hands-on technical instruction, safety knowledge, and North American recognized accreditation. Our goal is to ensure every participant is fully prepared for real-world rope access operations across construction, energy, industrial maintenance, and other high-risk industries.
SPRAT (Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians) is the leading North American framework for safe, efficient work at height. Technicians progress through Levels 1 → 2 → 3, building competence in rigging, maneuvers, rescue and supervision. Canadian industries that rely on this training include energy (oil & gas, wind), construction, inspection/NDT, and industrial maintenance.
Level 1: Supervised rope techniques, approved fall protection and rigging systems, assisting in operations, self‑rescue and basic rescue skills, equipment inspection and care.
Level 2: Complex rigging systems, deviations, rebelays, load transfers, advanced hauling systems, a wider range of rescue techniques, and proactive roles in team operations.
Level 3: Rope access system design and supervision, risk assessments and method statements, planning and managing complex rescues, advanced hauling and pick‑offs, compliance with legislation and QA protocols.
Refresher: Reviewing equipment checks, practicing core manoeuvres, revisiting safe working practices, re‑familiarising with selected rescues; ensures readiness but does not extend certificate validity.
This course is ideal for:
Level 1: For new technicians entering the industry who want a foundation in rope access work and safe practices.
Level 2: For Level 1 technicians with the required logged hours and time in grade, looking to advance into more complex rigging and rescues.
Level 3: For experienced Level 2 technicians ready to take on supervisory responsibilities and manage rope access operations.
Refresher: For certified technicians who have been inactive (6+ months) or want to restore competence before returning to work.

Revalidation is to recertify your Level 1, 2 or 3. A refresher is for operatives that have certified but have not work for more than 6 months.
Yes, the revalidation is required every 3 years to re certify your Level 1, 2 or 3.
Each level builds on the previous one, ensuring a structured pathway from entry-level to supervisory roles.
