Requirements

Candidates must be fully competent in both practical skills and theoretical knowledge of their current SPRAT level before starting an upgrade course.

For example, if you’re currently SPRAT Level 1 and applying for SPRAT Level 2, you must be able to confidently perform all SPRAT Level 1 techniques and answer SPRAT Level 1 theory questions prior to training.

If you’re unsure of your current competency level, we strongly recommend a pre-course evaluation. Upgrade courses have limited time for review or refresher training, so confirming your readiness in advance is key.

To qualify for an upgrade assessment, candidates must:

  • Hold a valid SPRAT certificate on the day of the assessment.
  • Have a minimum of 6 months of experience and 500 logged rope access hours, verified and signed off in an official SPRAT logbook.

Six months of experience means you’re eligible for upgrade six months and one day after your last assessment. For example, if you completed your SPRAT Level 1 on April 1, 2024, the earliest you can take SPRAT Level 2 is October 2, 2024.

All technicians upgrading or revalidating must present their SPRAT logbooks at the start of training. Lost your logbook? You’ll need to arrange for a verified replacement before your assessment. Please contact us if you need assistance.

If your SPRAT certification has expired, please contact us for next steps and guidance on how to proceed.

Verification of your SPRAT number and logbook details is mandatory for all revalidations (at any level) and upgrades, which must be submitted before training commencement.
